Criticism #1

When I arranged my web hosting I knew that this little site of mine was very far from perfect. I wanted to go through the process of getting it hosted because I didn't know what to expect and wanted to get through that barrier. I also kept hearing and reading articles where others were saying that it's better to get your site out there even if it's not got all of the features that you'd like to see. So I dived in and got it hosted.

Now I've done that I've started to use the site and there are many things that I'd like to see. This post is probably the first of many rants at my own site! Listing things that are missing or things that are done badly.

1) The logo not only doesn't allow the visitor to click it to go to the home page, but because of the way I've implemented the site header I think that I would have to redo the logo and header images to make that possible. Either that or write some even more non-standards CSS.

2) At the moment there is no home page! I'm using the blog page as a home page.

3) If you switch off the images on the site or the site loads slowly you can still see the horrid black-background regions that I once had for a previous incarnation of this site's design.

4) There's no nice way for me to provide an email address for anyone to email me about my horrendous design! The text at the top-right of the header is actually part of an image and so I can't use that.

5) When I write posts in my admin. view the text box that I've given myself is very short and so I cannot see much of what I've typed before I need to scroll back.

More to follow.
